If that’s the case, a ‘familymoon’ could be the ideal trip for you! Blend together a romantic honeymoon and a fun family holiday – so that your loved ones get to celebrate the new marriage with you.

A ‘familymoon’ provides the perfect opportunity for newlywed partners to bond with their families and create lasting memories all together. This modern twist on an old tradition could be the best option for you.

We would like to share with you what we think are the best destinations for a ‘familymoon,’ great for both the newly married couple, as well as the kids!

Orlando, Florida

Orlando

Are you seeking the ultimate magical adventure? Well, Orlando may be the trip of a lifetime that would be great for your ‘familymoon’. From exploring the theme parks, to visiting the huge shopping malls, you and your family won’t be running out of things to do here.

Of course, you would have to spend plenty of time at Walt Disney World Resort. Here, expect to meet all your favourite characters, and experience all the different rides that are across the four theme parks and two water parks!  As well as this, wander around Disney Springs which has lots of restaurants and shops.

If that’s not enough theme parks for you then head to Universal Studios, (home to the famous Wizarding World of Harry Potter) and experience the thrills of Universal Studios, Universal Islands of Adventure, and the water park – Volcano Bay. Great for both the adults and kids!

Make the most of the experience by hiring a car and heading down to one of the many shopping malls and outlets such as The Mall at Millenia or The Florida Mall – with anything from high end luxury to high street fashion, as well as plenty of dining options.

Caribbean Cruise

Beach in the Caribbean

The Caribbean has so many beautiful destinations that would be perfect for a honeymoon, or a ‘familymoon’. So why pick one? A cruise around the Caribbean provides the perfect mix of relaxing and sightseeing, all with the ease of travelling in the comfort of the cruise ship. Get the chance to visit islands like Barbados, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Aruba and the Bahamas (along with more) all in one holiday.

No matter which cruise company you book with, there will be plenty of activities and amenities onboard to keep you and the rest of your family entertained. Chania, Crete

A street in Chania, Crete

The stunning island of Crete would be a great choice for your ‘familymoon’! As the largest of the Greek islands, it offers a diverse range of activities and attractions suitable for all ages.

The city of Chania is found on the northwest coast and hosts a Venetian harbour, the Firka Venetian Fortress, Chania Market and Nea Chora Beach – just to name a few of the many sights to see here. As well as this, make sure you have plenty time to explore the Old Town, which circles the harbour. Here you can shop in the winding alleyways and visit lots of boutique shops and restaurants.

From Chania, you must travel to the famous Elafonissi beach – known for its unique pink sand – caused by the thousands of shattered shells. A real bucket list destination to visit! Don’t only visit this beach though, as you should also pay a visit to Falassarna and Balos Beach – with shallow waters that are great for families! Maybe even try out some water sports such as snorkelling, scuba diving or paddle boarding! Just make sure you get the correct travel insurance with us first!

Without a doubt Crete is known for its delicious food. From international cuisine to traditional Greek dishes with Crechan specialities like dakos (crunchy barley rusk soaked in olive oil and topped with tomato and cheese), moussaka and souvlaki.

Sardinia, Italy

The sea on the coast of Sardinia

As well as being the second largest island in the Mediterranean, Sardinia would make for a great ‘familymoon’, offering a broad range of activities and attractions perfect to suit all ages.

Sardinia is known for its beauty, and its beaches do not fall short of this expectation. The clear water and fine white sand make for the perfect place for families to relax. Spend the day swimming, building sandcastles and maybe even enjoying some water sports!  Some of the most popular beaches include Spiaggia della Pelosa, Porto Giunco and Cala Luna.

For the active families take advantage of Sardinia’s diverse landscape and explore the scenic trails of one of the national parks, such as Gennargentu. Perhaps even try out horseback riding through the countryside or take a boat trip to explore the coastline of the island. As well as all this, there are many cultural sights to visit of the ancient Nuragic ruins such as Nuraghe Su Nuraxi, The Tomb of the Giants and even medieval towns like Alghero and Bosa.

For a fun packed day out why not head to one of the several water parks on the island. Check out either Acquapark, Diverland or Aquadream, both offering plenty water slides and pools for both adults and children.

Of-course, we cannot forget to mention the amazing cuisine waiting for you in Sardinia. With plenty of fresh food and local recipes that have remained in the area for centuries, you’ll be in for a treat at every meal during your stay. Try out some traditional Sardinian dishes like culurgiones (Sardinian ravioli), porceddu (roast pig) and seadas (sweet fried pastries) at the local restaurants.

Split, Croatia

Split, Croatia

Croatia offers the perfect mix of historical sites, activities and stunning beaches – ideal for your ‘familymoon’. The coastal city of Split is home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site – Diocletian’s Palace, which is located right in the centre of the city – so you won’t miss it! Explore the maze-like streets and visit other landmarks like Peristyle Square and the Cathedral of Saint Domius.

In Split, everywhere you look provides incredibly picturesque views of the sea, and of the neighbouring islands. The waterfront, called Riva, is the perfect place for a leisurely stroll or to find a spot for a bite to eat. The city is also a perfect gateway to the Dalmatian islands, which each offer their own beautiful beaches and attractions to explore. So maybe island hop each of the destinations and experience Hvar, Vis, Brac or Solta!

Of-course, you cannot miss the great offering of beaches that Split has. Relax at the sandy cove of Bacvice Beach, known as one of the best beaches in Split and located close to the centre of the city. If not, head to the city’s biggest beach – Žnjan Beach, this white pebbled beach has clear and shallow waters, ideal for families.

They’ll be plenty food for you to try. Split is known for its fresh seafood and local dishes such as Soparnik (a savoury pie filled with things like Swiss chard, parsley and onions), Peka (slow cooked meat and vegetables) and pasticada (slow cooked beef in a rich sauce).

Mauritius

This island nation, found in the Indian Ocean is known for its stunning lagoons, coral reefs and breathtaking beaches and would make for the perfect ‘familymoon’ getaway!

Perhaps the biggest attraction of Mauritius is understandably, its beaches – with over a hundred along the coastline. The stunningly fine sand, palm trees and lagoons (especially on the west coast) are unbeatable! Check out Le Morne Peninsula and Trou aux Biches.

However, Mauritius is not only good for its beaches, so we recommend visiting some of the amazing nature reserves and botanical gardens such as The Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanic Garden. These beautiful gardens are home to an abundance of tropical plants, amounting to over 500 different plant species.

Head to the capital of Port Louis on the northwest coast. The urban city has French colonial inspired architecture, along with plenty of shops and restaurants. Make sure you have time to visit the Central Market – a traditional market selling anything from fruit and vegetables to souvenirs and clothing.
