Best Honeymoon Destinations

April 04, 2024

Tying the knot? Well, it’s more than likely that you’re also trying to decide on where to spend the most special holiday of your life – your honeymoon. We have created a list of our top destinations for this special trip, suited for whatever type of holiday you, and your partner are after. Whether a romantic city break, a beach holiday or a bucket list adventure trekking through the rainforest, we have the trip for you.

The Luxury Lovers:

The Maldives

The Maldives

Are you and your partner searching for the ultimate luxurious honeymoon?  Well of course, the Maldives immediately springs to mind. The Republic of Maldives located in the Indian Ocean is famous for its stunningly clear waters, luxury over water villas and white sandy beaches. However, it is worth noting, that the best time of year to visit the island is between November and April, with consistent highs of 29°C.

With an abundance of luxury resorts to choose from, each with an array of delicious restaurants, private beaches and a huge selection of facilities, you won’t even feel the need to leave the resort! Perhaps, organise a romantic private dinner in your overwater bungalow, a scenic flight over the islands or a romantic trip to the spa for a couples massage? How romantic!

Make sure to take advantage of the beautiful clear water! Perhaps by snorkelling in the coral reefs, or even try out scuba diving and spot all the colourful fish (maybe even a dolphin or two). Other popular activities you could book during your stay include stand up paddle boarding, canoeing and wind surfing!§

Whilst on your honeymoon soak up the local culture by exploring the Male Local Market and pick up anything from handmade souvenirs to remember your special trip, to delicious food and home decor. Once finished at the market explore the rest of the capital and wander the lively streets to get a break from the serenity of the beach resorts.

Santorini

Santorini

The famous island of Santorini, has cemented itself as one of the most beautiful islands in the world and rightfully so. It has become one of the top tourist attractions, and we can understand why with its iconic white and blue buildings, stunning shores, historical traditions, and great food. Perhaps the most famous of the Greek islands, Santorini is a bucket list destination as well as one of the best romantic honeymoon destinations in our opinion.

To achieve the classic views of the white washed buildings and infinity pools from your window, then stay in the popular Oia. Arguably the most romantic spot to be in. Many of the villas or rooms have their own cave pool straight from the room, with the most picturesque sea views. When not enjoying the privacy of your own pool, head out for some shopping in the narrow-cobbled streets before trying some famous Greek cuisine such as moussaka followed by some baklava.

The Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast

This stretch of coastline located in southern Italy is a popular holiday destination as well as a honeymoon destination due to its amazing food, stunning shores and pretty towns. Whilst here you will want to travel to each of the towns including Amalfi itself, Positano, Sorrento, Ravello, Praino and more!

For the ultimate honeymoon trip we would recommend staying in Positano, for the best of the beaches, array of activities and popular restaurants. Maybe hire a private boat, rent a scooter to explore or if you fancy a dance then go to the famous club Music on the Rocks – built inside a cave! During the day there are plenty of beach clubs to enjoy but beds on the beaches can get busy especially if you want a good spot, so perhaps plan where you’re going slightly in advance!

The City Breakers:

Paris

Paris

Perhaps you and your lover prefer the hustle of a busy capital city? Widely known as the ‘city of love,’ a break to Paris might be the perfect honeymoon for you!

Whether it’s your first or tenth time to the city it will always be special to see famous sights like the Eiffel Tower, especially at night when the tower lights sparkle for 5 minutes at the start of every hour! You won’t be short for sight-seeing in Paris so make sure to visit the Arc de Triomphe, Louvre Museum (home of the Mona Lisa), Notre-Dame and so much more.

Take advantage of the reputation of great food that France has to offer. Get classic French food at Le Cadoret, Le Gabriel or fine dine at Pur’- located in the Park Hyatt Hotel. After dinner sip on a cocktail at one of the beautiful rooftop bars such as Bar le Perchoir, Terrass Hotel or 43 Cocktail Bar.

Venice

Venice

Also known as “The City of Canals” and “The Floating City,” the stunning city of Venice screams all things romance! The canals, beautiful architecture and delicious food are just some of the reasons that Venice would be an amazing place to spend your honeymoon.

Without a doubt you have to take a ride on the infamous gondolas (for the ultimate romance) during your stay in Venice. With your own gondolier you can even request he sing or a play and instrument while you sail down the canals and soak in the beautiful sights! Make sure to admire the Grand Canal – Venice’s most recognisable spot.

You should also make time for a 40-minute ferry ride across to Burano, take a stroll beside the colourful buildings before stopping for a drink or meal. Another must visit is the Ponte di Rialto Market where you can shop the artisan boutiques selling everything from jewellery to locally sourced fresh food.

Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik

If you are a Game of Thrones fans perhaps join a tour to visit all the spots used for the popular show. Or, walk the city walls yourself to take in all the stunning views – it can take up to two hours to walk all of these medieval walls, so make sure to pack comfy shoes! You will have to explore the narrow streets of the old town and do some shopping and visit the local restaurants, hop on the cable car for the best views of the city and maybe even stop for dinner at the Panorama restaurant at the top.

With an amazing sea front location, when you feel like escaping the city you can relax on one of the many beaches, join a canoeing tour to visit the blue caves or even hire your own boat!

Anytime between May and August will be the best time to visit Bali and take advantage of the great weather along with the many great beaches. With so much to do, we would suggest to plan ahead with what you want to do so that you can make time for it all!
