You & Me Resort & Spa: The Maldives

With an average temperature of 27°c, it comes as no surprise that the Maldives is at the top of our list when it comes to luxurious winter sun destinations. The beautiful beaches and exclusive luxury resorts are undeniably what dreams are made of!

Hosting the infamous overwater style villas, we are certain that the You & Me Resort and Spa is the perfect destination for anyone looking to escape in the wintery months (and while the children are at school). Set on the private island of Raa Atoll, off the northern part of the island, the adults only resort offers a range of different villas for you to choose from. Each of the villas features exciting extras such as private pools, or even a slide straight from your room into the sea.

After a day of relaxing and swimming in the sea, you must try the resorts H20 restaurant. Here you will experience fine dining whilst having the ultimate view as the restaurant is built underwater – you might even spot a dolphin or two. Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa: The Seychelles

The Hilton Northolme Resort & Spa in the Seychelles offers beautiful villas overlooking the Indian Ocean. Situated off the coast of east Africa, the Seychelles is a great destination to soak up some winter sun. Averaging at around 27°c in January, lounging on one of the islands many beautiful beaches should be top of your agenda! Now, if you don’t fancy the beach, you could try out the hotels stunning infinity pool which has beautiful views of the Indian Ocean. Or, if a complete escape is what you’re after, then perhaps get yourself one of the rooms with its own private pool?

Meliá Llana Beach Resort & Spa: Adults only Cape Verde

The Meliá Llana Beach Resort & Spa is an adult only hotel situated alongside the stunning Algodoeiro beach in the popular holiday destination of Santa Maria, Sal. Not only are you close enough to enjoy a day at Algodeoeiro beach, but you’re also just a stone throw away from the infamous Santa Maria beach, known for its white sand and clear water. The hotel is particularly liked by guests due to it great location, so not only will you be able to escape the world and relax in this amazing resort, you will also be able to get out and explore the amazing things this island has to offer. Averaging at 25°c in January the sun is still out and shining in Cape Verde. The Standard Spa: Miami

South Beach Miami offers a mixture of everything possible all in one place. From stunning beaches to busy nightlife, you will be in for an active holiday, or should we say vacation’? The weather is a warm 24°c from December to February so is perfect for relaxing on the beach or by the pool.

The Standard Spa hotel describes itself as “less a hotel, and more an adults-only spa with guest rooms[1] Many rooms feature their own outdoor soaking tubs, overlooking the hotels tropical garden. The spa itself offers a large variety of treatments. Why not try the sound healing massage which is customised to the guest specifically whilst they listen to calm sounds and vibrations of crystal bowls? Or, maybe you feel like you need the detox cleanse, which is aimed to help fatigue, dehydration, and indigestion? Alongside the spa there is a café, restaurant, gym, boutique, nail salon and indoor bar, so there’s plenty to keep you busy at this hotel.

So, if you’re after a relaxing resort but also want to experience hustle of a lively city, then this could be the hotel destination for you!

Four Seasons Resort: Bora Boa

The beautiful island in the French Polynesia, Bora Bora, boasts average temperatures of around 27°c all year round! Along with the appeal of the glorious sunshine, the island is surrounded by quiet white sand beaches and clear seas. The mountainous backdrop of the island also makes for a stunning view while relaxing on the beach.

The Four Seasons Resort in Bora Bora offers an impressive immersive wellness experience, surrounded by clear seas and mountainous ranges. With incredible outer water bungalow suites and beachfront villas to stay in, not to mention private plunge pools available in most of the accommodation, ‘luxury’ is a good word to describe this hotel.  

The resort offers unique activities such as underwater excursions in their Vaitea Lagoon Sanctuary, led by their marine biologist. Or maybe you want to start your day with an in-room dining experience the canoe breakfast where a traditional breakfast is delivered to you by canoe to enjoy on the private deck of your outer water bungalow? At night, why not book a romantic private dinner on the beach while served champagne and a gourmet dinner? There are endless experiences and activities to enjoy at The Four Seasons!

After exploring the ocean and eating all of the incredible food available, you can relax in the TE Mahana Spa. If you’re on a romantic holiday with your partner then why not try the outer water spa suite? The treatment beds are side by side overlooking the stunning lagoon and tropical gardens, with a private outdoor tub to enjoy after the treatment. Or perhaps you want to try something more traditional? Maybe give the Golden Sun Ritual a try, beginning with a coconut and gold scrub and an 80-minute massage? Or the Taurumi Mind and Body treatment a Polynesian inspired massage with various oils and scrubs?

Understandably, much of the best activities to do on the island involve the sea. So, whether you’re adventurous enough to snorkel with sharks, ride a jet ski or snorkel in the natural lagoon called the Lagoonarium, then a trip to Bora Bora should be on the cards! However, if staying on-land is more your style, then that’s fine too. You can spend an afternoon hike up Mount Pahia or even hop on a jeep tour of the island whilst the driver teaches you about Bora Bora. We can think of worse things to do!

Sequoi Lodge, Adelaide Hills: Australia

Time to go down under! Perhaps the first place that springs to mind when we say ‘winter sun’ is Australia? Due to their summer time running from December to February, temperatures often reach 30°c. So, if you’re up for the long flight, a stay at the Sequoi Lodge will make it worth it the trip!

The lodge sits on top of Mount Lofty, also known as Koala Mountain, and is surrounded by 30 acres of nature and botanical gardens – so, get ready for some stunning views. The adults only accommodation is designed to be a private sanctuary so there are many activities for you to enjoy on-site. The philosophy of the sanctuary is to connect you with the land and some of the activities available include a guided nature walk, koala spotting experience and morning yoga.

The Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant is the lodges restaurant, which is run by chef Arthur Hardy. The menu is a culinary experience and is paired with a multi award winning wine selection along with a variety of imaginative cocktails. There is a limited number of diners so be sure to book in advance if you do fancy a spot of dinner here. The lodge also has a bar which has a terrace garden, and there’s also a tea lounge offering afternoon tea or what they call ‘high tea’.

Serenity at Coconut Bay: St Lucia

Serenity at Coconut Bay is a luxuriously romantic couples only resort. So, if a private hideaway to escape is what you’re after, then this might be the holiday for you!

With highs of 29°c, this eastern Caribbean Island has much to offer during a winter break. The island has many volcanic beaches, reefs and fishing villages, so if you enjoy getting out and about, this is definitely a spot that should be on your list. Make sure you visit the Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens and Mineral Baths during your stay, the Pigeon Island National Park and the Rainforest Adventures zip line are also good fun too!

The resort has 36 private suites all luxuriously designed and spacious, incorporating a Caribbean style mixed with a modern twist. All of the suites include private plunge pools, outdoor bars and private decks! Alongside a private pool, you have access to the mile long beach that’s right on your doorstep. The beach itself has views of the Maria Island Nature reserve and guests are able to enjoy a paddleboard or kayaking session as well! What’s more, you can even book a romantic meal for two with the private beach picnic service, if you so wish.

Why not dine at the Guesthouse restaurant at the hotel? The restaurant offers an all-inclusive dining experience where guests can enjoy fresh local produce to create both signature and traditional dishes.

What’s more, at this resort, the spa comes to you – you don’t even need to leave the comfort of your private plunge pool suite. Enjoy a massage together as a couple as the therapists use local essential oils and smoothie scrubs to begin your treatment. There are a variety of treatments on offer for you to choose from if a peaceful morning or afternoon is what you’re after – what could be more relaxing!

Royal Hideaway Corales Beach resort: Tenerife

Although not as hot as some of the previous destinations that have made it onto the list, Tenerife has everything you could want on offer for your winter getaway. On average, temperatures average around 20-22°c from December to February and has a comfortable sunshine throughout the year for activities and exploring!

The Royal Hideaway Corales Beach resort, located in La Caleta, is a beautiful and calm village within Costa Adeje. The adults only hotel offers a luxury yet contemporary style of suites, of which many include their own hot tub. The resort has numerous facilities available for guests to enjoy including bars, restaurants, a 24-hour gym, spa and choice of Yoga, Tai chi and Pilates. You must check out the rooftop pool which offers incredible views across the village, especially at sunset!
