Amongst them all, the Rinpung Dzong is one of the largest structures that houses over fourteen different shrines and chapels. Apart from this Tashichhoedzong is another structure that you must explore. This monastery cum fortress is also the seat of the country’s civil government. Paro Taktsang is another destination you must add to your itinerary. This temple complex was built in the 16th century and is best known for the thirteen taktsang.
The Bhutan meals mostly comprise of the local staples which include rice, vegetables or meat dishes. Be wary through, as the Bhutanese meals comprise of one predominant flavour that is chilli which can only be handled by those with an iron strong stomach. Some of the meals comprise of ema – datsi , kewa – datsi and shamu – datsi which are all chilli based dishes that are served with rice. Other cuisines commonly available here include mutter paneer, cheese momo, khuli and puta. For the beverages do try the ara or beer here. A must have is the tea and coffee brewed here in a different variety.
