Warmer European destinations

Warmer European destinations

Published: 19 November 2014

Whilst much of Europe has similar weather to the UK, which around this time of year can be cold and dreary, there are some destinations that offer slightly warmer weather. So if you are looking for a slightly warmer escape before this year draws to a close, then the Flexicover team has some lovely options for you.

The island of Malta is one of Europe’s gems and makes for an excellent destination for those craving a warmer climate in Europe over the winter. Rich in history with some fabulous buildings and monuments, lovely villages and temples, and pleasant cafes and restaurants, it’s a great island to visit with your loved ones. With beaches just a stone throw away, it’s a great winter escape if travelling to Europe this winter.

Winter holidays to Greece allow you to experience the authentic culture of this country in the absence of all the summer crowds. Whilst it may not be a sunbathing climate, the weather is pleasant and we recommend visiting the wonderful island of Crete. In addition to its beaches, there are several activities you can enjoy from biking up the mountains for fantastic views, visiting museums, walking around and enjoying the gorgeous natural beauty the island has to offer. History lovers will love this island – home to the earliest recorded civilisation in Europe.

A European winter holiday to Madeira is perfect if you are looking for mild weather. Whilst there are occasionally wet days, generally the weather is sunny and it never really drops below 10 degrees which is why it is a popular European winter destination. So if you are looking for some relaxation or somewhere different to do your Christmas shopping this year, this could be just the place for you. Enjoy splendid views of the sea and sprawling hillsides and travel to the volcanic sand beaches surrounded by the world’s largest laurel forests. A great winter destination and less than a 4 hour flight from London!

Although it may be the second smallest country in Europe, located on the French Riviera, luxurious Monaco has some of the most beautiful coastlines with its own share of bright sunny days in winter too! The winters are mild making this a popular destination for a winter break. Catch the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Monaco Dance Forum in December, spend time in the marina admiring the beautiful harbour and million dollar yachts, shop till you drop and indulge in some glorious food! This definitely makes for a perfect winter break!

Wherever you are lucky enough to visit this winter, ensure you have your Flexicover travel insurance with you. Travel in the knowledge that we are committed to providing you with the highest level of protection to ensure you are kept safe when away.
