Sheena's Mauritius Adventure
Published: 07 December 2017
Just as the weather in the UK starts to turn bitter, we love to escape for a bit of winter sun. This year, we decided to visit the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. We love visiting new destinations and this had been on our list for a while so it seemed like a perfect choice. Research also shows that November is a great month for warm weather there.

Mansukh's Seville Trip
Published: 09 November 2017
The thrill of a last-gasp, late-summer-early-autumn European city break “somewhere still warm”, and the threat of Hurricane Ophelia looming at home, booking a three night stay at the charming Hotel Melia Colon in Seville, the capital of Andalusia, with temperatures forecast to reach 85F, was an option hard to resist for my wife Shila and I.
Fireworks displays throughout the year
Published: 02 November 2017
It’s that time of year, everything’s getting colder and darker… and then it reaches the 5th and the skies in the UK light up. There’s something magical about fireworks that never ceases to amaze us. It’s a shame that we don’t have more opportunities to gather together and witness these fantastic spectacles...
But wait, there are celebrations throughout the year, around the world that use fireworks as their explosive finale. The Flexicover team has put a list of events together that feature these explosive artworks.

If your post summer blues have kicked in, why not take an autumn city break before the busy Christmas period starts! Whether it’s for a week or just a long weekend, there are so many wonderful places to visit and here are three that are on my list, particularly for this time of year!
Published: 28 September 2017
Going on a backpacking trip had been something that I had dreamed of doing for years and years, and in January I finally embarked on my solo adventure around South-East Asia. At first it was terrifying! I was half- way around the world, away from all my friends and family with no idea what I was doing. It was one of the best experiences of my entire life, and I strongly recommend it to anyone who is considering doing the same.
Normal for Norfolk
Published: 14 September 2017
While I love to head abroad on holiday, I’m also very happy to take a staycation as there are just so many beautiful places to visit within these shores. While the weather can be a bit hit and miss, on a warm, sunny day it’s hard to beat this green and pleasant land. There are also definite upsides to travelling within the UK such as the obvious lack of airport stress and no baggage restrictions (which is just as well as you need to pack for every eventuality clothes-wise).
Travelling solo by Shilpa Ganatra
Published: 31 August 2017
There was a time when I wouldn’t even consider taking a solo trip… No sirreee. Half the point of going on holiday was to bond with my travel bud, and what’s the point of going abroad if you can’t go out to nice restaurants, bars and clubs anyway? For the sake of personal growth I once gave it a go, spending three weeks in New York and San Francisco in a flat-swap a few years back.
Mansukh's Lake Como adventure
Published: 16 August 2017
Unsure of what to buy for my wife for her 65th birthday in late July, I established from her close friend that she would treasure a European Lakes and Mountains break, this being probably the best time of the year to venture a visit. So we and our close friends booked a trip to Lake Como with Riviera Holidays, who specialise in this type of ‘armchair’ touring. The tour details looked interesting enough with picturesque scenery and tantalising drives through the beautiful countryside, lushly sprawled between Italy and Switzerland.
Sheena's west coast road trip!
Published: 27 July 2017
We loved our recent family road trip to California and then onto Las Vegas, Nevada. We were super excited to be exploring places we had dreamt of for so long! Since we were traveling with our 21month old twins, we used an agent called Audley Travel to help us put together our 19 day, child friendly itinerary. They were great and worked with us until we were happy.
Steph’s week in Slovenia (Part 2)

Following on from the first instalment covering her trip to Slovenia, our Group Marketing Manager offers her lowdown on her family’s 24 hours in the capital, Ljubljana. After spending six nights in Slovenia’s Julian Alps, staying one night in the capital was a great way to end our trip. It’s a pretty compact place which was perfect as we didn’t have a lot of time to explore.
Steph’s week in Slovenia (Part One)
Published: 29 June 2017
Slovenia – to be honest it’s not a country that’s previously been on my radar as a holiday destination. But after seeing pictures of the beautiful Vintgar gorge and Lake Bled in the Flexicover newsletter I was intrigued to discover more. So when my husband and I started thinking about where to head for the May half term break with our two girls (aged ten and five), the fact this was somewhere different was definitely part of the attraction.
Nikki in New York
Published: 15 June 2017
After dreaming of going to New York for years, my friend and I finally took the plunge & booked a 4 night break. Immediately on arrival I was taken aback with how vibrant the city is. The hustle and bustle of Times Square was exactly how I had imagined. I was captivated by my surroundings in an instant, from the fabulous Manhattan skyscrapers, the enticing aroma of the street vendors to the brilliant lights on Broadway. WOW! I could get used to this city! There are no rules while you are in NYC. You can fit in as much or as little as you want. One thing for sure is that once you have been, you will ‘be bitten by the bug’ & be booking a return visit.
A postcard from Brussels
Published: 31 May 2017
Our very own intrepid explorer Shilpa Ganatra has been all over the world but here she gives us her own take on a recent visit to Brussels. Read on to hear her insights and top tips… While there are pros and cons to the EU, for travel fiends like myself the Union is a blessing, cutting out the red tape when taking a European trip. So partly because the Eurostar is always a joy, but mostly because of its chocolate offerings, I recently went to Brussels for an extended weekend break. Let's be honest: it still has a reputation for being a bit on the dull side, which is a shame, because the many quirks of the city nicely unfurl over the course of a long weekend. And of the many aspects I encountered, these are the nuggets of semi-wisdom I'd like to impart.
Shilpa’s weekender in Leipzig
Published: 09 May 2017
The thing about moving country as an adult means you tear yourself away from your urban family – the people who raised you on a robust diet of good (and often unheeded) advice, nights out, 2am conversations, and hugs during hard times. So now I’m in London, I try to see my Dublin friends with weekends away, and that’s why myself and my lovely friend Gill headed to Leipzig. An hour south of Berlin, it hadn’t much been on my radar before I found out it was supposedly the vegan capital of Europe. That was enough to pique my interest, as it indicated it had a distinct mindset compared to the rest of Germany. I wasn’t wrong.
Stephanie’s short break in Norway
Published: 21 April 2017
After both reaching a certain milestone birthday, my husband and I were keen to head off on a special trip to celebrate. Key criteria was that it had to be somewhere we’d always wanted to go but not on a ‘usual’ weekend getaway, be short haul to make the most of the five child-free nights we had and be active and outdoorsy as neither of us are that into sitting on a beach all day. The answer was easy as Norway was somewhere that we’d always wanted to go to but as we’d heard it was expensive probably called for a special occasion to warrant a visit.
Sheena Simaria's take on the Maldives
Published: December 2016
I recently went to the Maldives with my family for a week’s holiday. My husband and I were very much in need of some sun, sea and relaxation and that is exactly what we got! We were a little apprehensive at first as it was an 11 hour flight with our 16 month old, fun-loving but very active twin babies but they slept most of the way which was a big plus! We stayed at the gorgeous Lux South Ari Atoll resort on the island of Dhidhoofinolhu which was the ideal place to escape and picture perfect just as the photos we had seen.
