Recession-beating holidays fight back

Britons are staying with family and friends on their holidays this year in increasing numbers, saving as much as £2,000 according to the results of a recent study conducted by online rail ticket site,

Twenty-two per cent said that they chose a "paliday" for financial reasons - a need to save money while still wanting to enjoy a holiday.

Others said that a significant benefit of staying with family and friends was the opportunity to spend "quality" time together.
