The best ways to spend a memorable Christmas
Published: 05 December 2014
We can’t believe it’s the first week of December already! Time to unearth the tree and decorations. In this cold weather, no doubt like us, you are tempted by warm mulled wines, wholesome winter foods and yummy mince pies. The Christmas season is almost upon us and we just love the vibrant, cheerful atmosphere that surrounds us.
While this is an exciting season for many around the world, European countries without a doubt bring their own unique flavour to the mix, all bringing magic to the season in their own way. If you can, sneak in a weekend away before or even during Christmas; there are some truly special places that will leave everlasting memories during this festive period.
Whilst London is considered a top Christmas destination to visit, the wonderful Christmas markets of Prague, Czech Republic or Leipzig in Germany make them attractive destinations for a true festive break. Alternatively, if you are looking for an experience that takes you back to your childhood, Lapland in Finland is perfect. Look out for reindeer being led through the winter streets by a jolly Santa atop a sledge. Fun for everyone!
And who wouldn’t want to visit the exciting land of elves while sampling the delicious cuisines of Denmark? You know you would want to! (We sure do!!)
No Christmas is complete without the crisp chill outside and sparkling fairly lights that surround all the wonderful and famous monuments around Europe. Visit Krakow in Poland or Copenhagen in Denmark and explore these wonderful cities whilst joining in with local festive celebrations. Or try Amsterdam; visit its wonderful museums, watch a classical music performance or ice skate in one of the many rinks around the city. Fun for all the family.
If you are looking for more adrenaline this Christmas, Salzburg in Austria is a popular European city that is famous for skiing! Race down its ice-caped slopes or simply explore the charming city of Mozart and enjoy indulging in wonderful, home-baked cookies and pastries from stalls in the Christmas markets.
Wherever you are fortunate enough to travel this Christmas period, do ensure you have the right travel insurance policy to suit your needs. Flexicover are committed to providing you with the highest level of protection 24/7.
We wish you, your family and your friends, a very happy Christmas and all the best for 2015.
