Five amazing Las Vegas hotels off the Strip

Five amazing Las Vegas hotels off the strip With all-year sun and a party atmosphere like no other, Las Vegas is a top destination at any time of year. Don’t let the currency exchange convince you otherwise, especially as an easy way to budget well is to stay off The Strip: the famed line of brightly-lit hotels we associate with Sin City.

Even if it’s just minutes away, an off-strip hotel can be just as plush, only without the price tag of better-known counterparts. Choose well and you can pick a hotel that’s a 24-hour party palace, or a welcome retreat from the madness – something you certainly won’t find in the thick of the action. If you’re tempted, here are the Flexicover team’s top picks.
Stratosphere Hotel

Stratosphere Hotel

Even residents staying on The Strip will visit Stratosphere during their visit, it’s so ingrained in Vegas culture. True to its name, the hotel and casino is known for its towering views over the city. At the very top lies a bar and a revolving restaurant, where diners enjoy their meal with a 360 orientation of Vegas. Daredevils will get a kick out of it too, with activities including the Insanity and X Scream thrill rides, or its knee-weakening sky jump. We’ll stick to the restaurant…
Palms Place Hotel and Spa

Palms Place Hotel and Spa

If you’re not up for indulging in Vegas’s biggest attraction of gambling, there are a few hotels that offer an alternative, and Palms Place is our pick of the bunch. It forgoes the casino – as well as the party atmosphere that goes with it – to create a relaxing retreat situated just minutes from the action (so you can still get the best of both worlds). The focus here is on wellness and the hotel’s Drift Spa offers a mix of ancient and contemporary treatments, as well as Vegas’s first Hammam. If you do fancy a flutter, it’s connected to its sister hotel via an enclosed walkway, or there are complimentary shuttles to The Strip until 9pm.
The M Spa Casino

The M Spa Casino

A more isolated hotel, The M is perfect for a value-for-money stay for those who don’t mind venturing out by car. However there’s enough in-house entertainment to keep visitors content for a few days, including a 92,000 sq ft casino, a state-of-the-art spa and a fitness centre that’s amply decked out. The delicious food is one of the States’ biggest attractions, so it’s with careful consideration that we declare The M’s breakfast buffet to be one of the best, in part because of the complimentary beer and wine it serves - in keeping with Vegas’ reputation as a non-stop party town.
Hard Rock Hotel and Casino

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino

Proving you don’t need to be on The Strip to party hard, Hard Rock’s presence lies about a mile away from the hub, yet it's made itself an epicentre of good times. With its rock’n’roll roots, the memorabilia (including Michael Jackson’s famed glove) and concerts attract music lovers, but its signature offering is its legendary pool parties. At these, DJs bring the club to the pool with high-energy music to keep the party-goers – who’ve swapped eveningwear for swimwear – in the holiday mood. While there are quieter pools too, this is a hotel custom-built for party lovers. If that’s what you’re looking for, the Hard Rock’s location is a moot point.
Golden Nugget

Golden Nugget

Located in the heart of the Old Town, just by the Freemont Street Experience, Golden Nugget is one of Vegas’ first and best hotels – not many can boast of holding the AAA Four Diamond Award for 32 years. Its consistent standard is based on the array of restaurants on offer, its always-busy casino (with lower thresholds to play, it's perfect for beginners), and quirky extras like its waterslide that zips right through a shark tank. With the centre of the old town right on your doorstep, The Strip – and its price premium – won’t be missed.
