Croatia travel insurance

Croatia is a country in south-eastern Europe, bordering the Adriatic Sea, east of Italy. It’s bordered by Slovenia to the northwest, Hungary to the north, Bosnia & Herzegovina to the southeast, Serbia in the east and Montenegro to the south.

With over a thousand islands to pick from, Croatia offers one of the most magnificent coastlines in Europe. Along with beautiful beaches, travellers can lose themselves in the many coastal towns and cities which pack in a diverse history as well as fantastic experiences. You can choose to walk the walls of Dubrovnik, explore the ancient city of Split, visit bustling Zadar or go scuba diving on the island of Mljet. Start your trip with a visit to any of Croatia’s picturesque cities from the capital Zagreb to Rijeka, Pula or Karlovac.

While travelling through this country, visit historic Gornji Grad, be awed by the Euphrasian Basilica in Porec, explore Diocletian’s Palace in Split, take in the Pula Arena or head out to the ancient city of Korcula. Places like Plitvice Lakes National Park, the gorgeous island of Hvar or the festive spirit of Rovinj are also good additions to the itinerary.

Croatia is also known for its diverse Balkans cuisine. You can start out with some prsut (home cured ham), try some paski sir (sheep milk cheese), sample some ispod peke (octopus) or lose yourself in the flavours of pasticada (a stewed beef dish). Other dishes worth trying include crni rizot (risotto), riba na gradele i blitva (grilled fish) and brudet (a fish stew). If it’s fine dining you’re after, some options in Zagreb include Bistro Apetit, Takenoko, Vinodol and Mano.

Extreme sports also play a big part in the appeal of this destination. You can sign up for paragliding or parachuting out of an airplane whilst fans of water sports can also find great deal waiting for them in Croatia. Apart from the obvious boating trips, travellers can also go diving, snorkelling or swim with the varied marine life that can be found here.

No matter what the activity, though, it’s important to ensure your safety in case of an accident. Whether you are travelling through Zagreb, visiting Pula or partying the night away at Hvar, Flexicover comes with a range of travel insurance policies that may be well suited for you. With single trip, long stay as well as gap year travel insurance on offer, we can provide cover for that time of need.
