Holidaymakers must now ensure they have adequate travel insurance even when holidaying close to home, after the UK reciprocal health agreement with the Channel Islands (including Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, Sark and Herm) ended recently.

Whether heading to the channel islands for business or pleasure, travellers must now ensure they have adequate travel insurance. The recommendation comes from the Department of Health as the healthcare arrangements for UK visitors to the Islands have changed.

From the 1st April 2009, anyone travelling to the Channel Islands will be required to pay for medical treatment.

Conversely, visitors from the Channel Islands to the UK will also now be liable for charges for medical treatment when visiting the UK, so they should also have adequate travel insurance cover.

As a Flexicover Direct policyholder you have protection 24 hours a day, every day of the year, safe in the knowledge that, should an emergency arise when travelling, you, your family and friends will receive the highest level of medical care and return home quickly if necessary.
