Fun on the Slopes!
For many, nothing beats the exhilaration of being up in the mountains on a crisp winter's day.
Whatever you choose to do - whether it's skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, tobogganing, dog-sledding, shopping, dining at fine restaurants or spending the day in a spa - enjoy the wonders of both ski and après-ski!
We list a selection of our favourite winter sports resorts:
Whistler, British Columbia, Canada:
One of the premier skiing destinations in the world and home to the Winter Olympics last year, Whistler boasts over 8,000 acres of terrain and 180 miles of pisted runs to explore. Skiing here is spectacular and its village centre is home to a variety of shops, bars, clubs and restaurants. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced level skier, you will love Whistler.
Having hosted the Winter Olympic Games twice, Innsbruck is a fabulous place for winter sports. The vibrant and historical city is also ideal for sightseeing with plenty of shops, cultural events, museums, restaurants and cafés; a great boon for non-skiers. Explore the many castles, cathedrals and palaces for their rustic beauty and charm, all within Innsbruck's immediate vicinity.
Aspen, Colorado, USA:
One of the greatest ski resorts in North America, Aspen offers skiing for everyone, regardless of skill level. With 4 majestic mountains within a 12 mile reach, superb conditions and incredible beauty, Aspen will not leave you disappointed. For non-skiers, tennis, bowling, ballooning or ice-skating under the stars are just some of the alternative options. There is something for everyone in Aspen!
Three Valleys, France:
Incorporating Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thornes, this is the largest ski area in the world. It boasts 8 ski resorts, all linked together by lifts and runs. With skiing to suit all levels and hundreds of chalets to choose from, wonderful après-ski facilities and outstanding activities such as swimming, ice-skating, tobogganing and snowmobiling, the French Alps are perfect for the whole family, just hours away from the UK.
Snow conditions in all 3 ski areas in Zermatt are excellent, making this a popular ski destination for all. With its spectacular mountains, outstanding pistes and the incredible backdrop of the Matterhorn, Zermatt draws back visitors time and time again. Whether it's skiing, beautiful mountain villages, shopping, relaxation, great food or warm hospitality you are looking for, there is fun for all here.
