Rail travel has always been a popular way to see the world. And with high-speed rail links, your journey can now be fast, smooth and scenic. In fact Eurostar can take you to a wide variety of places in Europe, all setting off from the grandeur of the newly-refurbished St Pancras International Station in London.

So maybe for your next trip let the train take the strain, for a ride that is cheaper, with minimal check-in hassle and generous baggage allowances.

The Flexicover Team suggests some great places you can visit by Eurostar.

Lille, France

Located in northern France near the Belgian border, Lille, the country's fourth largest city, boasts an impressive variety of architecture, an opera house, museums, and galleries galore. This eccentric city offers stylish shopping, great Flemish cuisine, rambling streets and a throbbing night life - it's pretty easy to get around by foot, metro or tram. Enjoy strolling through the beautifully restored old town and Grande Place, its charming main square. Popular places to eat are Lille's estaminets (pub restaurants) where you can enjoy traditional dishes such as potjevleesch (terrine of chicken, veal and rabbit) and waterzoï (freshwater fish casserole).
