Swine Flu - do take extra care!
As the Swine Flu virus continues to linger, some extra care can minimise the risk of contracting it.
We are all generally aware of the CATCH IT. BIN IT. KILL IT. campaign:
Always carry tissues.
Use a tissue to cover your mouth and nose whilst coughing/sneezing.
Bin the tissues as soon as possible.
Wash your hands regularly.
Here are some tips for additional protection:
'Hands-off-the-face'. Avoid touching any part of your face unnecessarily.
Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (1/4 cup lukewarm water to 1/8 teaspoon salt). This is a simple, inexpensive and a powerful preventative method.
Clean your nostrils at least once daily with warm salt water. Blowing the nose once a day and even swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water attacks the virus at source.
Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C. If you take Vitamin C tablets, do ensure that they also have zinc to boost absorption.
Drink warm liquids when you can. These would wash developing viruses from the throat.

Buying travel insurance may not stop you from contracting flu but, as a Flexicover policyholder, you can travel safe in the knowledge that you will receive protection 24 hours a day, with expert overseas medical assistance should the need arise.
If you are travelling soon, have a great trip!
