Last minute Christmas travel destination in Asia

Christmas travel Asia

Published: 04 December 2014

When thinking of Christmas, many picture pristine snow lands, festive markets and the last minute flurry of gift shopping! However, if you are looking for a different taste of Christmas this year, a last minute holiday to Asia could be just for you!

Consider these fabulous destinations this December:

Langkawi, Malaysia

The island of Langkawi makes for an ideal Christmas beach break. With an excellent climate and various adventure opportunities, a festive break here could be perfect. Spend your days, snorkelling, diving and swimming and pamper yourself with relaxing massages and spa treatments. Langkawi offers the perfect blend of pristine beaches, historical attractions, excellent nightlife and duty free shopping. Visit Dataran Lang (Eagle Square) the 12m tall eagle sculpture, take the 15minute cable car ride to the top of mount Mat Cincang, walk the Sky Bridge or take an island hopping tour. With so much to do you will be spoilt for choice! Who says Christmas has to be cold!

Goa, India

Christmas and the New Year is a very popular time in Goa and it attracts visitors from all over the world. Home to some of the country’s finest beaches, a great party scene and a vibrant atmosphere, Goa is the place to be this Christmas. With great temperatures of between 27-32 degrees, a relaxed pace of life, delicious food and a festive spirit around, this is the ideal place for a break away this month. And look out for Santa Clause roaming the streets distributing sweets and presents for children too!

Hoi An, Vietnam

If you are looking for a place to fill up your Christmas stocking combined with rest and relaxation, Hoi An in Vietnam is the place for you. Hoi An is a buyers’ market and shopping here is a real treat. Famous for its tailors and their skills to make clothes exactly how you want them, show them any design or any magazine cut out and they will copy the design exactly to your measurements. There are also a wide variety of handicrafts and souvenirs on offer too so travel with light cases as you are sure to leave with them filled to the brim! And if shopping isn’t for you, join a cooking class and learn to create a traditional Vietnamese meal or head to the beach for some time out. Vietnam makes for an ideal Christmas break away.

Whilst Christmas for some is spending time at home with the family, many prefer to travel to warmer climates and have a break away. If you do travel abroad, remember to book your Flexicover Travel Insurance first.
