Cyprus Summer

Published: 07 May 2015

If you’re looking for the perfect spot to spend your summer holidays in 2015, then we’ve got the ideal place for you. Cyprus, the third largest island in the Mediterranean, boasts of sunny weather, breathtakingly beautiful beaches and more historic and cultural attractions than you could possibly cover in a single visit. But whether you’re keener on going for Cyprus beach holidays or would rather pick comprehensive Cyprus package holidays, here are some of the best things to do in Cyprus that you should definitely try during your Cyprus holidays in 2015:

Take a rejuvenating bath at the Omerye Hammam in Nicosia:
Located in Lefkosia in Cyprus’ capital of Nicosia, this 14th century restored building is one of the great Cyprus attractions, and was recipient of the Europa Nostra prize for the Conservation of Architectural Heritage. First built as a church dedicated to St. Mary, it was then converted into a mosque in 1571. While a major portion of the structure was destroyed by Ottoman artillery, the main entrance survived and stands strong till date. Today, this hammam is fully functional and a bath here provides a wonderfully refreshing experience that you simply must enjoy when you visit Cyprus.

Dive into the depths to discover the secrets of Zenobia:
Zenobia is one of the most famous shipwrecks in Cyprus and a popular diving site where you can see a wide variety of marine life. While currently found 1,500 yards offshore, the ship actually foundered right in Larnaca harbour on its maiden voyage in 1980. It was later towed to its present location. The wreck reaches a depth of 140 feet however, and if you’re a novice or a diving beginner, you might have to give this spot a miss. Still, there are plenty of amazing caves and reefs and even some other shipwrecks nearby where you can try your luck instead. Larnaca is one of the best places to visit in Cyprus for scuba diving and you’re bound to experience wonderfully exciting dives there. It’s also a great destination to spend holidays on the beach, so make sure to pack your swimsuits and trunks - right after you arrange for your Cyprus travel insurance, of course!

Party all night at Ayia Napa:
This resort in the eastern end on the southern coast of Cyprus is renowned as a party destination and famed for its laidback vibe. In fact, Ayia Napa in Cyprus claims to have some of the best nightlife in Europe. And with over 80 clubs and as many bars spread out over this buzzing location, those claims don’t seem too far-fetched. The main square is where you can find most of the action, though you can also find a quiet, cosy nook to simply cradle a drink if you look for it. There truly is something for everyone here and the clubs play a range of genres so you can dance the night away as you groove to your favourite tunes. What’s more, it even boasts of some of the best beaches in the country. Definitely one for the beach holidays in 2015 bucket list.
