The Tofua Caldera is one attraction that is a must visit, especially for nature and adventure lovers. Apart from contributing to the flora and fauna that thrives here, it also supports the plantations of kava. Nature lovers must also visit the iconic Eneio Botanical Garden that is home to a variety of different species of plants which are both native and exotic along with an access to a private beach and camping area. Don’t forget to visit Hufangalupe, a natural land bridge that makes for a picturesque view especially during the high tide. For a peek into the history of the island, head to the Tonga National Museum which not only houses a cultural centre, gallery and library, but also a pottery and royal collection pieces.
The cuisines created here would include a traditional preparation made from the earth stove or over the open fire. Staples like the taro, yams, bananas and coconuts are consumed on a daily basis along with more modern day items of food like canned beef or tuna. Baked breadfruit is one delectable cuisine that would serve during season time. For the non – veg lovers, you can opt for traditionally prepared pork or you can choose any of the canned corned beef or tuna meals. You can down your meal with the formal drink of otai, fresh fruit drinks or even beer imported from the neighbouring countries.
