Due to its geographical location, you will find a lot of the local cuisines comprising of fresh tropical fruits and seafood. A must try is the paulsami and the Kokoda which is traditionally prepared in the lovo method. There are also several chicken based cuisines that are prepared in different flavours and methods. For the beverages, do try the local favourite, which is known as the yaqona and kava. Be warned though, it is a mildly intoxicating drink that must be consumed in small quantities.
